Four new cities join the bciti smart city community
We'd like to warmly welcome the cities of La Prairie, Sainte-Catherine, Coaticook and Waterloo to the bciti community, a fast-growing community of smart cities located throughout Quebec and, soon, across Canada.
“I'm proud to announce the launch of the new bciti interactive communication tool,” states Jocelyne Bates, Mayor of Sainte-Catherine. “It will undoubtedly make our residents’ lives easier by making accessing our services quick and easy. I’m also optimistic that it will encourage dialogue between our residents and the city.”
With bciti, cities have the potential to quickly reach up to 80% of their population, an impressive rate. In the coming weeks, bciti plans to integrate and welcome 50 new cities.

bciti contributes to the fight against COVID-19 and plans the launch of two innovative features

Leaders of cities and municipalities of all sizes need to establish frequent and regular communication with their citizens in order to effectively manage the COVID-19 crisis.

In addition to generously offering all cities in Quebec free access to the “Alerts & Notifications” module during the crisis, bciti is actively working to launch two new innovative modules:

  • The “bciti Chatbot” module will allow citizens to do a self-assessment of COVID-19 symptoms to determine whether they need to consult a medical professional.
Powered by artificial intelligence and consistent with Health Canada's self-assessment tool, bciti is preparing the integration of this interactive module to help minimize travel and reassure citizens.
  • The “bciti Inter-City Forum” module will make it easier for cities in the bciti community to work together during the COVID-19 crisis.

News from the bciti team

In February, the bciti team successfully transitioned to virtual teleworking mode, even before the pandemic was announced.

The bciti team is working hard and passionately to bring residents closer to their cities and communities. In addition, bciti is adding additional resources to support the high volume of messages being sent to residents every week, and to develop new high-speed applications.

New resources have also been designated for the upcoming implementation to ensure that the greatest number of cities and municipalities can connect to the bciti intelligent platform and get the support they need to make the process go as fast and as smoothly as possible.

Let us end by saying, most importantly, take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

Smart together
